Route around the Markiezaatsmeer shows you a lot of the Brabant shore. wonderfully varied, you go from the woods near Brasserie Bozlust to the historic center of Bergen op zoom, then along the Markiezaatsmeer and through the villages Hoogerheide and huijbergen.
Start your route in the forests of bergen op zoom and cycle along the famous mozesbrug. From here the route goes towards the 2 mills of Roosendaal and van Nispen. Then return via the green Wouwse Plantage to Brasserie Bozlust.
Bergen op zoom is very diverse, so you are in the greenery and in no time you are at the beach and then in the middle of the Historical city center on the Grote Markt. Enjoy one of the many terraces along the way. Via nature reserve Bergse Heide you return.
On the Brabant shore there are extraordinary estates, the first to encounter is Landgoed Mattemburgh with its beautiful French garden from the 18th century. After leaving here you cycle on to Landgoed de Wouwse Plantage where you can walk through the woods surrounding the estate.
From Brasserie abdijbos goes your bike ride towards Hoogerheide, Here you can see several bunkers still lie of the 2nd world war and the Battle of woensdrecht, also is the verldrij parcours of Arie vd poel. With the popularly called stairway to heaven.
On both sides of the Belgian-Dutch border lies the Kalmthoutse Heide. This route takes you through the diversity of this area and past villages on both sides of the border. There are many terraces along the way to make this a pleasant bike ride for a relaxing day out.
The Port of Antwerp can look back on a particularly colorful history. Ships with cargo and passengers have been finding their way across the Scheldt since the Middle Ages. Stop for a moment at Fort Lillo, (95) and don't forget to grab a pint before heading back across the border!
Ride down the Barabantse wal and see the wide vistas. you come out at the Westerschelde and imagine yourself in another country as you cycle over the dike to Rilland. Coming out at the experience point there with a little luck you can see the seals on 1 of the sandbanks.
Visit the 13-century town of Tholen, with its still fully intact star-shaped fortress, town center and windmills well worth a visit. Along the way, you can also spend some time on the water at Bergse diepsluis.
